Guide for line managers
As a Department Manager you see your direct reports and nobody else. Your Dashboard shows your team's attendance today, who is on leave, and the leave requests waiting for you.
Approve leave
- When someone in your team applies, you get an in-app notice and an email.
- Open the request from Leave Overview and approve or reject it.
If your company uses two-step approval, your approval passes the request to HR for a final decision. You can reject at your step, but HR makes the final call.
Approve hiring requests
When someone raises a hiring requisition for a department you head:
- You receive an approval email.
- Review the request under Hiring Approvals, then approve or reject it.
You can see hiring activity for your departments. Candidates' phone numbers and salary details are hidden from you.
Set and approve quarterly KPIs
- Under Quarterly KPIs, set targets for each direct report for the quarter.
- Submit the targets for approval by HR or your managing director. If they're returned, adjust them and resubmit.
- During the quarter, your reports enter their actual results. You score and close their KPIs.
Self-appraisals and reviews
- Self-appraisals: your reports submit a self-appraisal each quarter, and you can send a reminder to anyone in your team who hasn't. If an employee has a financial target, you can set it.
- Reviews: write performance reviews for your reports within a review cycle. Give an overall rating, strengths, areas to improve and next-period goals.
Improvement plans and disciplinary cases
You can open and manage these for your direct reports:
- Performance improvement plans: set objectives, then record periodic reviews.
- Disciplinary cases: record the case and any actions taken. The employee acknowledges or refuses each action.
Your own requests
Managers are employees too. Your own leave, payslips, loans and appraisal are under the self-service items in the sidebar, and your requests go to your own line manager.
